Security researches are sounding the alarm over a newly discovered malware that targets banking apps

The malware called EventBot masquerades as a legitimate Android App similar to Microsoft Word for Android

EventBot exploits Androids built in accessibility features to obtain deep access to the device operating system

Once installed the EventBot infected fake app quietly siphons of  banking passwords and intercepts two factor authentication codes

With a victim’s password and authentication codes the cyber criminals can break into banking accounts and steal funds

The malware records every tap and key stroke and can read notifications from other installed apps

Researches say that the level of sophistication is extremely high and that the hackers are continuously updating capabilities to include more malicious features.

They also noted that the malware is brand new and it seems to have been written from scratch.
