CYBERSPACE VULNERABLE

Cybercriminals exploit weaknesses in the global domain of the information environment which consists of  interdependent networks of information technology infrastructures and data, including the Internet, telecommunications networks, computer systems, and embedded processors and controllers.

Cyberspace, specifically, has three layers:

Physical layer, existing of boxes and wires.

Syntactic layer, containing instructions of designers and users.

Semantic layer, consisting of the information in the machine.

All layers are vulnerable, and the broad academic consensus is that cyber security threats are increasing and diversifying, ranging from cyber-terrorism and cyber-attacks to theft, ransomware, and sabotage.
