WHAT IS CYBERBULLYING?

Cyberbullying is any form of intentional harm inflicted through digital communication tools—whether it’s on a phone, a social media platform, or a game chat. It includes threats, humiliation, exclusion, and even impersonation, and it can affect anyone—anywhere, anytime.

Cyberbullying is not just “online teasing”—it can lead to emotional breakdowns, depression, anxiety, school dropout, and even self-harm.

The first step in stopping cyberbullying is understanding it.

Definition: “Cyberbullying is the deliberate use of digital technologies such as social media, messaging apps, and gaming platforms to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person.”

Three Examples of Cyberbullying:

1. Public Shaming in Group Chats:

A teenager is mocked in a class WhatsApp group with edited pictures and cruel jokes, while others laugh or stay silent.

2. Workplace Sabotage via Email:

A colleague spreads false rumors about another employee by forwarding private messages and misrepresenting them to others in the company.

3. Social Media Harassment:

A child receives a flood of DMs from fake accounts calling them ugly, worthless, or threatening them with violence.

Cyberbullying hurts.
But with education, empathy, and action, we can stop it.
